Craigcare Maylands

Project Details

Craigcare Maylands is a 92 bed Aged Care facility. Purpose built in 1972, the layout of the facility reflects the thinking of the time around managing the aged, and as such features a number of shared rooms and shared bathrooms off main arterial corridors. When the Clients approached Form Construction the facility was showing extreme wear and tear and was much in need of refreshing. The brief was to reinvigorate the resident bedrooms, en-suites and nominated common areas through a complete overhaul involving de-fit of the existing spaces, and instatement of new flooring, cabinetry, lighting, doors, window fittings, soft furnishings and painting throughout. The resident bathrooms were completely refurbished with new floor and wall treatments, new cabinets and plumbing fixtures & fittings. The common areas were revitalised through new lighting, window treatments and paint colours.

Due to the nature of aged care facilities, which operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and the vulnerable nature of the residents, a staged program was devised to meet the Client’s requirements of the highest quality fit-out in the shortest possible time, to suit their budget and with minimal disruption to residents. Form Construction was able to deliver on all fronts with the major refurbishment being completed 4 weeks ahead of schedule, and a plethora of residents over the moon with their stylish new rooms!
